Hubba’s birthday – part I

December 30, 2008

Brought Hubba for his birthday lunch last Saturday, and Rae came along as Mummy had an ’emergency’ in the morning and can only take her in the afternoon.

Hubba wanted pasta and was happy to settle for Spaghetti but being the fussier for the two, I decided to surf the net for nicer venue, and came upon Basilico. Service was impeccable as one would expect from a 5 star hotel, the tall, Italian guy made sure Rae was entertained by giving her a kids menu which doubled as colour page, and a nice box of fat crayons. After sitting down at our table for 5 minutes, Rae whispered to me that she felt cold. I then realised she was directly under the aircon vent so offered to swoop my seat with her. She looked around the room and came closer to my ears and said “But he sat me down on this chair!” ohhhh my little girl was feeling like a real lady being ‘seated’ by a man who also laid the towel on her lap!

We had some monster size mozzeraella cheese as starter which was quite good. Main dish, pasta was great and done the right way, al denta, according to my Hubba, the food Connisserou of pastas though it could have been more less sour. Rae’s pizza was a tad salty though. Coffee was GREAT!

After lunch, mummy came to pick Rae up so Hubba and I can continue with the celebration in peace!

Next stop, hair spa at Phyto at Takashimaya where we enjoyed private tv screen and had a catalogue full of movies to choose from. The head, neck, shoulder and arm massages were great, but I didn’t like being told that I don’t have all that much hair! And they had photos to prove it, sigh……

I think I spent more on Hubba’s birthday celebration then he did on mine but its all worthwhile especially since I got to enjoy them too!

We are having another celebration next Wednesday which is his actual birthday, this time, mummy is hosting it. I will need to go order a cake from Canele sometime soon.

“But the thing is, it’s hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely, because almost everyone has that smallest bit of faith and hope that one day they would open their eyes and it would all come true. At the end of the day, faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale is slightly different than your dream. The castle, well it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important that it’s happily ever after — just that it’s happy right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you. And once in awhile, people may even take your breath away.” ~ Meredith Gray in Gray’s Anatomy
